I was born 30 minutes before Christmas Eve and it's nice to think on BBC1 I was welcomed into the world by an organ recital from Westminster Abbey. Bach's Chorale Prelude: In Dulcl Jubilo.
It's not quite so nice to think there's not a single fucking ghost of a chance anyone in my entire extended family would have been watching it.

For some reason, my parents put a high priority on having the box. We had a shit cooker, a crap car and didn't have a home phone for ages after everyone else, but they were among the first in their street to get a TV.
And among the last to get a colour TV.
